Bloodborne PS5: Will Bloodborne Get A PS5 4K 60FPS Upgrade, Or Is A Bloodborne Remaster More Likely?

Will Bloodborne get an upgrade or remaster for the PS5? Having been released back in 2015 to rave reviews, Bloodborne is undoubtedly a classic of the PS4 era. PS5 gamers can, of course, still enjoy the game thanks to the miracle of backwards compatibility.

But wouldn't it be nice if players could enjoy an updated version of the game that makes full use of the power of the PlayStation 5? We have seen plenty of games being treated to an upgrade: GTA V, Ghost of Tsushima, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon, to name a few. But will Bloodborne get the same treatment lovingly bestowed upon it? Here's what we know about a Bloodborne upgrade or remaster for the PS5.

Will Bloodborne Get A PS5 4K 60FPS Upgrade or Remaster?

There were hopes that something about a Bloodborne PS5 upgrade might be announced at the recent PlayStation Showcase. However, those hopes were savagely dashed, as Bloodborne wasn't mentioned at all. At this point then, there is no official word as to whether we can expect a Bloodborne 4K 60 FPS upgrade, or a remaster.

We do have some small inkling of what an upgrade or remaster might look like though. A coder named Lance McDonald has created a patch that allows Bloodborne to run at 60 FPS (via Eurogamer). This does however, need a hacked console to run, so we wouldn't recommend voiding your warranty. Not unless you really, really love Bloodborne and desperately want 60 FPS.

Is A Bloodborne Sequel More Likely?

Despite being released six years, ago, there hasn't been much by way of news of a sequel for Bloodborne. But more recently, there have been rumours of a game called Bloodborne: Endless Nocturne. The rumours initially expected this to be announced at the PlayStation Showcase in September, with a release to follow before the end of 2021. The leak alleged that this would be an enhanced port of the game, looking to supply 4K 60 FPS on the PS5.

Obviously, that didn't happen. And we remain no closer to knowing whether a sequel may be in the works or not. But for a game that won plenty of awards, outsold expectations, and extremely high review scores, this is surely one game that players would love to have a chance to revisit. Whether that's a sequel, or a remaster, probably doesn't matter.
