While many of FromSoftware's iconic games are readily available on PC, the PS4-exclusive Bloodborne isn't one of them. The gothic-horror soulslike is one of the best titles from this masterclass developer, but after years of being confined to the last-gen PlayStation console, it seems we’re no closer to a PC port.

As emulation grows in popularity, with the best iPhone emulators and best Android emulators allowing users to experience retro consoles on their smartphones, the lack of a true PS4 emulator for PC leaves many players waiting. However, a significant update for one PlayStation 4 emulator is bringing us one step closer to playing Bloodborne on PC.

According to Senhor Linguica on Twitter, the shadPS4 emulator for PC recently received a new 0.1.0 update. While previous versions of the emulator only supported 2D games, this recent update means some 3D titles are now displaying images, and a limited number can even boot into the game.

Of course, this doesn't mean you can dive into Bloodborne right now and play the game on PC. In fact, the best way to play the game on PC currently is by using PlayStation Now via a PlayStation Plus Premium account. However, steady progress in PS4 emulation is much better than no progress at all, and hopefully, this signals that things are moving in the right direction.

However, we’re likely still a few years away from full PS4 emulation. Progress is, thankfully, ongoing, but given the recent situation of Nintendo shutting down Yuzu and the fact that emulators require years of testing and development to ensure game compatibility, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer before Bloodborne becomes playable on PC.

Fortunately, you can always explore the Bloodborne PS1-style demake for an intriguing twist on the exciting soulslike, or try Bloodborne Kart for an equally exciting genre shift. Either way, unless you’re willing to pay for PS Now, you’ll be waiting a little longer.
