A new king has come for the crown of Steam’s Top Sellers chart, the blocky FPS game Battlebit Remastered. Despite launching during a buzzing pre-order season, the new game has managed to knock a number of AAA releases down a few spots.

A low-poly 254-player Battlefield clone, Battlebit Remastered combines simple visuals and destructive action to give gamers a remarkably solid shooter experience.

Released in early access on June 15th, the cutesy war game has managed to become the top selling game on Steam, managing to knock some of the most popular games off the platform’s sales chart podium.

At the time of writing, BattleBit Remastered has officially beaten CS: GO, Starfield, Modern Warfare 2, F1 23 and even Valve’s incredibly popular Steam Deck handheld. It goes without saying that the new Battlefield clone is one of the biggest games of the summer.

Furthermore, as per Steam Charts, BattleBit Remastered is one of the most played games on the platform. The FPS game has hit a substantial peak of almost 32,000 players, beating out current players for Skyrim, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring and even multiplayer games like Hunt Showdown.

BattleBit’s popularity isn’t without merit. Even in its early access state, the game is absolutely chock-full of content for players to run-and-gun through. Alongside its huge 254-player lobbies, the game boasts dozens of weapons, a wide selection of vehicles, 18 huge maps and the return of Battlefield’s classic class system.

Players are also having a grand time playing the new FPS game. On Steam, the game holds a Very Positive rating from fans with 90% approval. With almost 2,500 reviews, that’s an impressive feat.

The developers behind the new FPS game have promised substantial updates to the title in the future. While the game already has a huge swathe of content to toy with, it could end up becoming even bigger than Battlefield in the future. Although, considering the state of DICE’s Battlefield 2042 at the moment, that shouldn’t be too surprising.

Battlebit Remastered is currently available here on Steam Early Access for $14.99/£12.49 or your regional equivalent.
