Baldur’s Gate 3 takes pride in its lengthy and deep campaign but one player has reduced it to a short pleasure. Rather than having several hundred-hour nights with the RPG, this speedrunner managed to reach the climax in 10 minutes.

Mae, a Canadian speedrunner, shared their short ride with the acclaimed RPG on YouTube and its impressively speedy. Rather than exploit some of the game’s bugs or glitches, Mae chose an origin character and just kept jumping around like Mario.

The origin character in question is Gale, everyone’s favorite wizard, using Enhance Leap to speed past everything so quickly. While the speedrunner does take some time to level up and recruit Shadowheart, most of this journey is a literal leap of faith.

SPOILERS FOR GALE’S CAMPAIGN

Interestingly enough, Mae never reaches Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. It turns out that Gale can choose to blow himself up below Moonrise Towers. At the time of writing, this is the only known way to skip Act 3 and the final boss entirely.

Considering how the developers at Larian Studios were hoping players would at least experience 75 hours of the game, this speedrun is impressive. While we knew players would never get all 170+ hours of cinematics, barely seeing them in a two-act run is surprising.

Of course, when you consider the sheer freedom this RPG offers players, speedruns were inevitable. It’s why games like Breath of the Wild were so popular with speedrunners, as they let players head to the final boss right away. Knowing that you can skip through most of this RPG actually adds to the game’s chunky replayability.

Since Mae did this with an Origin character, they can always choose to replay the experience with a custom character. Larian actually suggested that players choose an Origin character for their second run but speedrunners aren’t here for the story.
