Baldur’s Gate 3 is a good game, but some players might not get into all of the turn-based antics, so it’s definitely not for everyone. One gamer said that the RPG would be better with a real-time battle system and that led to a swarm of fans who explained why this is a bad idea.
A user going by Synth Potato said that Larian’s hit RPG would ‘triple their sales’ if they added real-time combat as an option. This led to a ton of fans in the quote tweets saying that the RPG wouldn’t be able to keep all of its choice-based mechanics if it switched things up.
Here are some Baldur’s Gate 3 fans explaining why switching to a real-time combat system is a bad idea:
“99% of the game's choice based systems literally could not function with real-time combat. You'd have to make the entire game from the ground up. Quit begging for developers to ruin their games just because they don't appeal to them,” said Mischief.
“There’s absolutely no way to translate BG3’s gameplay to action without tremendously dumbing it down. It is turn-based at its finest hour, deeply strategic, overwhelming amount of viable options. Turning it into an action game would be unironically soulless,” Night Sky explained.
“If you can’t get into turn-based combat why are you playing a game based on DUNGEONS & DRAGONS?” angrily asked TheNCSMaster.
At the end of the day, people are allowed to have their own opinions and not enjoy games that everyone else likes. However, wanting that game to conform to their tastes is also a bad look. Essentially, some gamers have to accept the fact that not all video games are made for them.
Based on the passionate responses, it’s clear to see that fans still love Baldur’s Gate 3. While the most recent update isn’t the best, it doesn’t take away from the game’s strengths. Plus, Karlach fans can finally give her the ending she truly deserves.
