Larian Studios’ goliath RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most popular games of the year. Since launch, the game has been played so much that fans have already clocked in over a millennia of game time.
Shared by Larian in a Twitter infographic, the massive fanbase for Baldur’s Gate 3 have played well over 1,000 years of the RPG since launch. With almost one million concurrent players on launch, the massive Dungeons and Dragons adaptation is already one of Steam’s most-played titles.
In the infographic, Larian revealed that have played “at least” 10,000,000 hours of gameplay. In this time, 10% of players spent at least a single hour just creating their character for their massive fantasy adventure.
In other stats, fans have been loving the game’s NPC pet dog: Scratch. Since release, Scratch has been petted over 750,000 times. Personally, I can be attributed to at least 150 of those pets. After all, the goodest boy deserves all the pets he wants.
Players have also used magic to speak to over 1.4 million corpses in the realm of Faerun. However, using the power of Animal Speaking is even more popular with over 2.4 million animals talked to in the game’s first week of playing.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is known for being an incredibly horny game, not just for the bear sex meme. In romantic news, most players have decided to romance the beautiful Shar worshiper Shadowheart, followed by Gale. However, almost 100,000 players have been rejected by that smug, blood-sucking vampire Astarion — who is undeniably a hottie.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a huge success for developer Larian Studios, a success the studio never saw coming. In our personal review of the game, we thought it was one of the best RPGs ever made, and we’re still far from the end, almost 70 hours in.
Larian’s massive RPG is currently available on PC via Steam and GOG. A PlayStation 5 port releases on September 6th with an Xbox Series port still in the works due to poor Series S performance. No matter what platform it releases on, it’ll be great.
