Baldur’s Gate 3 has impressed gamers everywhere after several gameplay videos show the sheer amount of effort put into the new Dungeons and Dragons RPG. However, there might be too much effort put into the game, as developers are both excited and worried about its post-release reception.

Indie developer Xalavier Nelson Jr. pointed out that this RPG is more of an anomaly than the new standard. Most RPGs like this don’t have the same amount of time and effort put into it. The amount of years it was in development, plus the three years in Early Access, are unprecedented.

“In an era of megagames, Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the largest attempted, built by a specialized group of people using mature tech specially built to make *this specific game*, reinforced by invaluable mass player feedback AND market validation ahead of its launch,” Nelson Jr. said on Twitter.

Other developers have noticed just how big and grand Larian Studios’ upcoming RPG is. Summerfall Studios announced that they have delayed Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, specifically due to the third Baldur’s Gate.

"We want everyone to have ample space to check out Stray Gods when it launches. Baldur's Gate 3 is hotly anticipated (by us, too!) and we want to give our fans room to celebrate Stray Gods,” Summerfall Studios said on Twitter.

Simply put, the RPG has an astonishing amount of content in it and could keep players busy for years to come. Larian Studios loudly boasted about having 170-plus hours of cutscenes and that’s not even including gameplay.

Despite all of the content, they do come with some sacrifice. Currently, the RPG is only scheduled to come out on PC and PlayStation 5. The Xbox Series version has been delayed indefinitely, as Larian is trying to make the game work on Series S.
