Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to make a huge impact on the gaming community, with major patches fixing any problems players might be facing. Releasing alongside Patch 3 is full support for the Mac, so Apple owners can finally try the D&D CRPG for themselves.
Larian Studios announced the Mac version with Patch 3 in a tweet, which also thanks fans and critics for rating the RPG highly. Fans won’t have to wait long for the Mac version either, as it comes out next week on September 21 with the third major patch.
“Thank you from the fiery infernal engine we keep in place of our heart. We couldn't have asked for a better response to Baldur's Gate 3,” Larian tweeted out. “Patch 3 is coming September 21 with full support for BG3 on Mac.”
As the statement implies, Baldur’s Gate 3 hasn’t been available on Mac for a long time. Even when the CRPG was officially released on PC the Mac version was on its own early access. Thankfully, Apple players only have to wait a little bit longer before they can go on this lengthy adventure.
With the Mac version coming out next week and the PS5 port arriving earlier this month, it’s only Xbox fans who have to wait now. Despite plans to release this port alongside the PS5, Larian faced complications trying to port the CRPG down to Xbox Series S. Thankfully, a compromise was reached and it will be coming to Series consoles later this year, with Series S not having split screen co-op.
Despite all of Larian’s good work, there’s still some fixing that needs to be done with Baldur’s Gate 3. Act 3 is still a really demanding chapter of the game, with the Steam Deck version barely keeping up. It’s fair to say that the CRPG isn’t portable-friendly, despite what the “Verified” status might tell you.
