When you create a character in Baldur’s Gate 3, their appearance is permanent and can’t be changed. However, that might not last long, as a developer from Larian Studios has hinted that this could be changed.
Responding to a fan who asked about changing your in-game appearance on Twitter, Director of Publishing Michael Douse hinted at something interesting. Douse simply said “Things are being cooked” as a response, getting fans talking about a possible update to the character creator.
Admittedly, the response from Douse is pretty cryptic, so it’s hard to say for sure if the character creator is getting a major update. Then again, the devs recently promised that a major patch is coming, with more improvements coming in the future.
Currently, Baldur’s Gate 3 already has an extensive character creator with a ton of options for each race. Players can even customize how their genitals look, male or female, which was a major shock to plenty of fans. Now that most gamers have tried the game, they understand this decision since the RPG is incredibly horny.
That being said, the RPG not letting players change their looks mid-game is a bit disappointing. Granted, it’s only disappointing because the base game already offers a ton of freedom in other areas, but that’s what happens when expectations are high. With Larian doing a good job at listening to fans, this change could actually happen in the near future.
Even without changing the character creator, Baldur’s Gate 3 is already smashing a ton of records. On Steam, the game managed to get over 800,000 concurrent players, which is a lot for a single-player RPG. Reviews from fans and critics have also been fairly positive, due to the amount of freedom and story paths afforded.
