The highly-anticipated Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable has been delayed to a 2024 release after already being delayed previously. With December fast approaching, the decision to delay this anime VR game comes down to needing time to polish things up.
Developer UNIVRS released a statement on Twitter (via Upload VR), where they explained why a delay was needed for the game. As expected, this is supposedly for quality purposes, as the developers need more time to get this anime tie-in game in playing form.
“We have decided to postpone the release date of "Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable" once again. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to those who have been looking forward to the game as well as to everyone involved,” tweeted UNIVRS CEO Keigo Fujikawa. “To deliver the highest quality product to players around the world, we need a little more time to complete it.”
Previously shown during the Quest Gaming Showcase, Unbreakable attempts to put you in the shoes of a Survey Corps member as they attack Titans. Obviously, what differentiates this game from other titles in the franchise is that it’s in VR, letting you see these monstrosities in ways that weren’t meant to be.
It will be interesting to see how Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable tries to immerse fans since swinging through the air and chopping big necks does sound exhilarating. Other games in the franchise have done a decent job attempting this, but Unbreakable could be the standard if done well.
Until we get Unbreakable, the Koei Tecmo Attack on Titan games are currently the best ones thus far. Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle is currently the most up-to-date with the anime, at one point spoiling Armin’s fate via a DLC announcement. In addition to killing Titans, Final Battle also has you create a character and get to know Erin or his friends.
