The Atari VCS may have its own set of controllers you can use for games, but user choice is always welcome. With this in mind, Atari has allowed players to use the favourite controllers on their new mini console.
Even if you enjoy Atari's offerings this is a welcome addition. Not only does it make your own gaming experience easier, but it's especially handy for multiplayer. That's right, you can still give your friend the crap controller!
The procedure is not quite plug and play. However, once all is said and done, you'll be able to connect your Xbox One, Xbox Series or other controller to the VCS.

Pairing your Xbox One or Xbox Series controller to the Atari VCS isn't a complex procedure. However, both devices do have bespoke ways of starting Bluetooth communications with each other.

On the Atari VCS side, you'll also need to navigate into the system settings. From here, head over to the My Devices subsection. If everything is working fine, Xbox Wireless Controller should be an option in the menu. Select it and you're all set.

Connecting other controllers to the VCS
It's not currently known what controllers are compatible and what ones aren't. However, most mainstream controllers should connect just fine to the new Atari.
To connect a DualShock 4 (PS4) controller, follow the same steps as Xbox but while holding PS and Share on the pad. For the Nintendo Switch Pro controller, try connecting via a USB cable or by holding the sync button.
