Security is essential when using your computer.
Whether you're just killing time in a game or simply working away to get your job done, it's nice to know that you're protected and not at risk of having any private information come out about you.
Sometimes that's things like your bank details, sometimes that's things like family photos. No matter what it is, you want to feel safe.
Unfortunately, you might not be safe if you're using an Apple device at the moment.
Apple is keeping a track of everything
As reported by Techradar, a security researcher called Jeffrey Paul has claimed that Apple is storing records of everything you do on modern versions of macOS.
As they put it "you simply can’t power on your computer, launch a text editor or eBook reader, and write or read, without a log of your activity being transmitted and stored."
It's a worrying thing to have to consider given that a Mac might be your main computer.

What can you do to stop it
It used to be that a VPN would allow you to avoid this kind of data collection, but in the article penned by Paul, he also claims that this has been rendered useless in the latest updates to the macOS.
Unfortunately, this basically means there's very little you can do to avoid your data being claimed.
Techradar notes that "Apple claims that what Paul perceived as spying was just its Gatekeeper security feature verifying the authenticity of the apps to make sure the users aren’t being tricked to run malware disguised as legitimate apps."
It's a disconcerting thing to have to consider, but there's not really much choice if you happen to use macOS.
