We're all counting down to the release date for AMD Zen 4 architecture, as there are likely to be some significant improvements with the upcoming generation.
AMD Zen 4 architecture looks to increase its processors' performance. and for the first time, the Ryzen processors will use a different socket all together - the AM5 socket.
There's a lot to be excited about, but also a ton of mystery surrounding AMD Zen 4 too...
Here's everything we know so far.
AMD Zen 4 Release date
AMD has yet to announce an official release date for the new microarchitecture, but Zen 4 has an expected release date of 2022.
Although no specific time has been released, these processors may be later in that year due to the delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
AMD Zen 4 Rumoured Specs
AMD's Zen 4 microarchitecture is currently rumoured to offer a 40% performance boost that is most likely powered by AMD's new 5 nm nodes. It will be the first Ryzen processor to use a new socket called the AM5 socket.
Very little information is currently available about this new socket.
These smaller nodes and smaller transistors enable higher core counts, which can be beneficial for multi-threaded applications.
AMD has been developing various ways to allow for much better single-threaded applications in their Ryzen processors.
Some of the ways AMD has been improving its processors' single-threaded performance include allowing more power for each core, enabling it to reach higher clock speed by heating up faster and hotter.
We'll be on hand with the latest news and updates as they come in surrounding AMD Zen 4, so be sure to check back in with us soon.
