AMD reveals Zen 3: Next-gen PC gaming core explained

AMD have finally announced their next-gen CPU called 'Zen 3'.

After months of speculation they announced a line of products, each one very affordable and over 10% of gains from the previous Zen 2 generation.

With only a few weeks until their release with prices beginning at $299, there's plenty to unpack from this 5000 series.

Before the Big Navi event in two weeks, lets go through what was announced.

Release Date

AMD announced full availability of Zen 3 processors for November 5th.

Price

At the event on the 8th October, AMD announced four CPU variations of their Zen 3 line, appealing to affordability, power effincency and speed.

  • Ryzen 5 5600X - $299
  • Ryzen 7 5800X - $449
  • Ryzen 9 5900X - $549
  • Ryzen 9 5950X - $799

Features

AMD listed off the new features for the Zen 3 CPU line, such as:

Higher Turbo Boost, so the Ryzen 9 5950 can go to a clock of 4.9GHz.

New Core Layout so the cache can be more efficiently accessed thanks to the L3 cache.

7nm chip design.

Between 6% and 19% in performance gains, with Counterstrike Global Offensive offering a huge increase in framerate.
