A new AAA Alien game is reportedly in the works, an exciting rumour for fans of the acclaimed sci-fi horror franchise. Until now, no one knew who would develop the game but an additional rumour now claims that Grasshopper Manufacturer of No More Heroes fame is working on the title.
Keep in mind that these are just rumours, though if true, it would be a really interesting move. Most fans don’t associate Grasshopper Manufacturer with the standard definition of AAA games, but things can always change.
Will we actually see the No More Heroes developer working on the unnamed AAA Alien video game? Is this going to be a blockbuster release from the studio? Time will tell but it’s hard not to get excited.
Insider Gaming, who previously reported on the AAA Alien game, claims that Grasshopper Manufacturer is developing the sci-fi horror title. Apparently, sources told the website that Grasshopper is in some way attached, although this hasn’t yet to be officially confirmed by anyone from the studio.
Considering how Resident Evil and Dead Space are said to be major inspirations for the title, hiring Grasshopper is a very interesting move. Most fans associate the studio with action-packed games like No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Killer 7, more budget-orientated projects. However, we can certainly see the Resi influence there.
Admittedly, we’ve seen studios change their gameplay style before and it’s led to success for them. Naughty Dog went from the Jak games to Uncharted and The Last of Us, while Square Enix has shifted from turn-based battles to real-time action for their current line of JRPGs.
We’re definitely interested in seeing what direction they can take this AAA Alien game, given their previous titles. They can also conform to industry standards and make them play just like other third-person shooters.
