There's no doubt that Meta's line up of standalone virtual reality headsets are excellent devices. The Meta Quest series has offered some great budget-friendly VR experiences that have made inaccessibility to virtual reality a thing of the past... mostly. Price aside, they're impressive pieces of tech.
Considering there some of the best VR headsets on the market, with the Quest reaching heights on Steam hardware surveys and even devices like the PSVR 2 switching on PC support, which is likely due to Quest's consistent success. It seems Meta has the VR gaming world captured.
Now, Meta is using the Quest to take its sights on education. In a recent Meta Quest blog post, Meta is planning to release something similar to its Meta Quest for Business service but specialised with classrooms and teaching in mind.
In the blog post, Nick Clegg, the President of Global Affairs for Meta, shares some information about VR's benefits to teaching, before explaining the core ideas around this upcoming educational hub. For example, the hub will be curated to offer some apps or experiences that are suited for education, while also allowing teachers to interact with multiple Quest headsets at once.
The information about the specific services are, unsurprisingly limited. However, Clegg states in the blog post that "The product’s name and features will be announced in the coming months", while also adding that "At launch, we plan to make the product available in our Quest for Business supported markets to institutions serving learners aged 13+".
Areas supported by Meta Quest for Business include the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and more, so it seems the educational service will be provided in the same regions. However, considering the hub hasn't got a release date yet, we imagine these plans could change.
In other VR news, the Meta Quest 3 finally lets users lay down and use apps, and Half Life: Alyx, one of the best PCVR games, is finally playable on the Apple Vision Pro. Well, kind of.
