However, the hybrid device will not be revealed during the June 2021 Worldwide Developers Conference, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Instead, Apple will host a separate in-person event worthy of "such a critical announcement", expected to be some point after WWDC.
When will Apple reveal its Mixed Reality headset?
If we are to believe the Bloomberg reports, we could expect Apple to announce its upcoming headset in the summer. This would place the event in between WWDC and the annual Autumn iPhone reveal. This timing would also allow Apple to potentially host an in-person event, depending on the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine rollout.
This would make sense. WWDC is more focused on the software side of Apple, with announcements expected to cover OS updates instead.
Of course, we'd recommend taking this with a pinch of salt until Apple confirms the event and the existence of the Mixed Reality headset.
What is the Apple Mixed Reality headset?
The Mixed Reality device could launch in 2022 for upwards of $1000, and will weigh just 150g.
