How to fix the Discord not connecting to Xbox issue

At the time of writing on 30 November 2023, there seems to be an issue on the Xbox's side causing connection and linking issues. So it's recommended to wait for Xbox to address it, as they have acknowledged the problem and are actively working on a solution.

As you are aware, there are several ways to connect your Xbox and Discord accounts. Based on how you were attempting to link your accounts, the fixes vary. Navigate to the relevant section to find out the possible solutions.

If you are trying to connect your Xbox account from Discord

One of the easiest ways to connect your accounts is to link your Xbox account directly from the Discord PC or Android app. However, it can be tricky for some people, so we’ve listed some troubleshooting steps below.

On PC:

  • First, make sure you are trying to connect the accounts in the proper manner. Instructions are here.
  • If you were attempting to link your Xbox account through the Discord PC app, try doing it via the Discord website.
  • Alternatively, if you were trying to link your Xbox and Discord accounts through the Discord website, try using the Discord PC app instead.
  • In case you are using the Discord PC app, make sure it is fully updated.

On Android:

There's a bug on the Discord app (Android) that can interrupt the authentication process, preventing your Discord and Xbox accounts from connecting.

In order to solve this problem, open your Discord app settings, and select App Info, then go to Set as Default, select Supported Web Addresses, and make sure both discord.com and *.discord.com are checked.

If you are trying to connect your Discord account from Xbox console

In order to use Discord Voice on your Xbox console, your console should be updated to the latest version. Assuming that your console is up-to-date, let's get into the troubleshooting steps.

  • If you were attempting to link your Xbox account through the Xbox app, try doing it through your Xbox console.
  • Alternatively, if you were trying to link your Xbox and Discord accounts through the Xbox console, try using the Xbox app instead.
  • If nothing seems to work, try connecting your Xbox account from Discord.
