Want to know how to connect Switch controllers to Quest 3? The Quest 3 is arguably the biggest name in the modern VR landscape. This success of Meta's marquee headset can partly be attributed to the ease with which it supports various third-party devices and peripherals.

The Quest 3 connects to any Bluetooth-compatible gamepad. Naturally, this includes both variations of the Nintendo Switch's controllers: the JoyCons and the Pro controller. Here's how you can connect your Switch controller to the Meta Quest 3.

How to connect Switch controllers to Quest 3

To ensure you don't face any issues in connecting Switch controllers to your Quest 3, make sure your headset is fully updated. Now, to begin, you'll first have to put your respective Switch controller in pairing mode.

On the JoyCons, you do this by holding the sync button located between the SL and SR buttons on each controller. It's the same with the Switch Pro controller; simply hold the sync button on top of the gamepad. In each case, the controllers' indicator lights will start flashing to show you they are in pairing mode.

Next, simply navigate through your Quest 3 settings:

  1. With your headset turned on, launch the Meta Quest mobile app
  2. Navigate to Menu
  3. Go to Devices
  4. Click on Controllers
  5. Tap Pair New Controller and then select Pair Gamepad
  1. Make sure your JoyCon or Pro controller is still in pairing mode and tap on it from the list of available gamepads

If your pairing was successful, you'll see your Switch controller listed as an option next to the Quest's very own Touch controllers.

With all that said, it's important to keep in mind that your Switch controllers still won't be able to do all that the Touch controllers do, as there are no complete third-party alternatives to the Quest 3's Touch controllers.
