The best PC speakers are going to vary wildly depending on how much space you have, how much power you want, and your budget.

In our list, we've included a mix of price tags and setups. All you need is to know what you're looking to spend, and a rough idea of what setup you might want. A lot of the best PC speakers use a 2.0 system, with just two speakers, but if you want a little bit more oomph, you can go for 2.1 - two speakers plus a subwoofer for even better bass.

Generally speaking, both are going to give great sound for PC gaming and music and whatnot, but 2.0 tends to be more space-conscious than 2.1. In terms of sound quality though, you'll want to keep an eye out for THX certification, although we've made sure to cover that on your behalf in our list.

Other than that, just make sure you're not getting speakers that are too big for your desk, unless you consider upgrading to one of the best gaming desks if you need a bit more space. And, of course, only buy speakers that are compatible with your PC. Fortunately, all the speakers we've picked out are pretty much universally-compatible.

We've got a lot to get through so let's not waste any more time. Here are our top picks...

When it comes to sound, the speakers have far-field drivers that take advantage of the acoustics in your room to deliver high-quality, immersive audio. Plus, there are passive radiators on the back that tweak the bass reproduction depending on what you're listening to.

Interestingly, the two pebble-shaped speakers have elevated drivers set at 45-degree angles. This is done to enhance the audio projection and give a more immersive listening experience that's focused directly toward you at your desk.

4. Bose Surround Speakers 700

Best premium PC speakers

Wattage: N/A - Dimensions: 1.84 x 1.84 x 5.77 inches - Connectivity: Optical, HDMI - Other Features: Alexa-enabled

Through the years, Bose has earned a reputation for producing high-quality audio equipment, so of course, we had to include a Bose product in our list. The speakers we have gone for aim to deliver a cinema-like sound while cutting down on cable clutter.

More specifically, the Bose Surround Speakers 700 is a premium, wireless sound system for your PC. That said, while you can connect these speakers to your PC, you can also hook them up to a TV or other devices via Bluetooth, optical cable, or HDMI lead.

You can mount these speakers to your wall or your ceiling too, or simply place them atop your desk if you have the space. All you need to do is get the right accessories for the placement.

Then, to further improve the cinematic experience from the surround sound system, you can add in a Bose soundbar, and, for bass, the Bose Bass Module 700 subwoofer. So, not only are these speakers great to begin with, you can even customise your system to suit your setup later down the line, making them a great initial investment in our eyes.

6. AudioEngine A1

Best wireless PC speaker

Wattage: N/A - Dimensions: 6 x 4 x 5.25 inches - Connectivity: Bluetooth, Wired - Other Features: Compact Size

The AudioEngine A1 is an excellent speaker system that acts as a compact alternative to the larger, more expensive AudioEngine A2+ that doesn't exactly fit the bill for a PC setup.

Therefore, we've chosen these A1 speakers as they are compact. Each speaker is 4 inches in width, 6 inches in height, and 5.25 inches deep, making them easily “placeable” on your desk, saving space for all your other devices.

Adding to the build, they feature aramid fibre woofers and silk dome tweeters, which promise to deliver rich stereo sound. If you intend to listen to music, tweak your cinematic experience, or elevate your video games, then the A1 pair will definitely complement your needs. What's more, they're easy to install. All you have to do is pair your device to the speakers via Bluetooth. You can also choose to go for a wired connection with the cables provided if you'd prefer.

There’s one thing to note though. Being small and compact, this system works best in smaller spaces. If you have a larger room or want a stronger bass, then consider the AudioEngine A2+ set mentioned earlier.

7. Razer Leviathan V2

Best PC soundbar speaker

Wattage: N/A - Dimensions: 64.01 x 64.01 x 19.3 cm - Connectivity: Bluetooth - Other Features: THX Spatial Audio

Finally, we've got an option that is definitely a speaker, but sort of pushes the limits of the whole endeavour. The Razer Leviathan V2 is a mighty, RGB-infused soundbar that was created specifically for PC users, mostly for gamers, although it also works for everyday use as well.

Aside from looking good, which is always nice, this thing features THX Spatial Audio, which basically means you're presented with a full surround sound system on hand with just this and the subwoofer it comes with. It's surprisingly small for all that power too, which means that even more modest desks should be able to adapt to it with ease, and it has detachable rubber feet if you feel the need to make it a little bit shorter.

The connection is Bluetooth 5.2, which means you can get low-latency and stutter-free sound from your PC, but it also means you can pair up to 8 other devices with it as well.

Overall, the Razer Leviathan V2 is a beautiful and incredibly powerful PC soundbar that'll make sure you get a little bit more out of whatever you're watching, listening to, or playing. Also, we really like RGB lights, so that helps.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Buying new speakers can be tough, often resulting in a ton of questions. Don't worry though as we've answered some of the most frequently asked queries below.

What is THX-certified audio?

THX is a company that runs a quality check on audio equipment, which includes speakers. So, a THX-certified speaker means that the device reproduces sound as it was originally recorded, given that the reference room size remains the same.

Depending on the size of the room, the certifications will vary. However, a THX certification essentially guarantees high-quality sound due to the strict standards of performance and acoustics speakers are required to pass.

Is a subwoofer necessary for PC speakers?

If you're looking to increase immersion through sound, a subwoofer is a perfect addition. It will make all those explosions and rumbles, particularly in FPS games, come to life!

This is because a subwoofer is built to produce deeper bass frequencies, creating lows that are otherwise hard to achieve through regular speakers.

We'd say if you're a fan of music, movies, and video games, then you should definitely consider getting a subwoofer or speaker system with one. A subwoofer will enhance your listening experience, allowing you to enjoy your favourite tunes, films, and games to their full potential.
