John Boyega isn’t interested in returning to Star Wars

John Boyega’s time as Finn in Star Wars was memorable for right and wrong reasons. After a strong debut, the character was let down in The Rise of Skywalker where his role was to shout “Rey” a lot.

Despite not holding much of a grudge anymore, John Boyega has stated that he isn’t interested in returning to Star Wars. Considering the online abuse he faced from racists, we don’t blame Boyega, but we would like to see more Finn.

John Boyega is finished with Finn

During his appearance in Tell Me Everything with John Fugelsang, John Boyega admitted that he’s found peace with his time in Star Wars. The actor feels that Finn can now appear in other Star Wars media now that the films are done, though he himself is done with the character.

"At this point I'm cool off it. I'm good off it," Boyega revealed. "I think Finn is at a good confirmation point where you can just enjoy him in other things, the games, the animation. But I feel like '[Episode] VII' to '[Episode] IX' was good for me."

Boyega then made it a point to say that he isn’t interested in returning to Star Wars right now. The actor is currently enjoying his more versatile roles, saying: "To be fair, [with] the allies that I've found within Joel Taylor and Jamie Foxx, Teyonah Parris, Viola Davis, all these people I've been working with… versatility is my path."

No returns for the Star Wars sequel cast?

It seems that John Boyega isn’t alone in not wanting to return to Star Wars, as the sequel cast hasn’t shown much interest. Oscar Isaac recently changed his mind about not wanting to return but was adamant about needing an interesting script and director.

We also haven’t heard much Daisy Ridley or Kelly Marie Tran when it comes to a Star Wars return. Now that Disney and LucasFilm are seemingly set on moving in a new direction for Star Wars, we might have to wait for sequel nostalgia before we see them again.
