The Acolyte might be the most ambitious Star Wars show coming to Disney+. Covering the final days of the High Republic, the series is expected to give us a deep dive into Sith culture.

While The Acolyte doesn’t have a release date yet, it seems that the Star Wars series is going to make hardcore fans very happy. Case in point a leak claims that Darth Plagueis will be playing a big role in the upcoming story. (It’s not one the Jedi would tell you.

Plagueis leaked?

Star Wars leaker Aesokas (via Reddit) claims that Darth Plagueis could be playing a big role in The Acolyte. However, the leaker made sure to temper fan expectations.

For example, the leaker that Plagueis is not Paul, the supposed the main character of this series. Aesokas does think that Paul is just a codename for an even bigger reveal but it doesn’t appear to be for Plagueis, at least not yet.

Fans should obviously take the leak with a grain of salt. The Acolyte is still in production and things can change really quickly. For example, shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi were delayed multiple times due to changes in the script and that could always happen with The Acolyte. Still, if they can include Plagueis in any way, fans will be pleased.

Return of the Legends lore

One reason fans are excited to see The Acolyte is due to showrunner Leslye Headland being a huge fan of the Star Wars Extended Universe, which has since been rechristened to Star Wars Legends. LucasFilm head Kathleen Kennedy confirmed Headland’s fandom for the Legends timeline and that could mean the live-action debut of Star Wars villain Darth Plagueis.

In fairness to Disney, we’ve been seeing plenty of Legends integration since the company bought Star Wars. Star Wars Rebels brought in Grand Admiral Thrawn and Cad Bane, the latter of whom would also appear in The Book of Boba Fett.

Fans can expect to see even more Legends characters when The Acolyte comes out. As of this writing, no release date for the Star Wars Disney+ series has been announced.
