Elon Musk claims Tesla Bot will cost less ‘than a car’; we hope so

Elon Musk has been hyping up the Optimus Tesla Bot for some time now, claiming that it will help us with our mundane tasks. While we still don’t know when the Tesla Bot is coming out, Elon Musk has gone on record saying that it’s cheaper than a car.

Though prices can vary, it’s somewhat reassuring to know that people won’t break the bank to get this Tesla Bot. Only time will tell if the automaton is actually worth the money but we’re interested to see how it does.

Buy a Tesla Bot for your parents

An article from China Cyberspace magazine (via IoT World Today) shed some new details on the Tesla Bot from Elon Musk. While prices for the Optimus will start pricey, the goal is to mass produce them so they eventually become cheaper than a car.

“People will be able to buy a robot for their parents as a birthday gift,” said Musk.

While we still don’t have a release date for the Tesla Bot, knowing that we’ll be able to buy it for loved ones is nice. Granted, we will need to wait for these things to be purchased by the masses so they can get cheaper so Tesla has to impress.

Tesla Bots doing chores

Continuing on, the article reiterates how the Optimus Tesla Bot will be handling our mundane tasks, giving humans more time to relax after work. Musk is hoping that these robots end up doing most of the household tasks for us from here on out.

“Tesla Bots are initially positioned to replace people in repetitive, boring, and dangerous tasks,” he wrote. “But the vision is for them to serve millions of households, such as cooking, mowing lawns, and caring for the elderly.”

Will Tesla Bots end up doing all of our household chores in the future? Or will this be a prelude to the post-apocalyptic setting in The Matrix? We’ll have to wait and see.
