NVIDIA GeForce Now Thursday Update: Another 11 new games are added to GFN today

It's strange to think that it's only been a year since NVIDIA launched their streaming service, GeForce NOW, to their audience.

Offering a wide berth of games to their library, it's almost become something of an underdog in the streaming space.

To mark this one-year anniversary, NVIDIA have announced 'GFN Thursdays', and a GeForce NOW blog to let everyone know of what's coming up.

With that, let's see what this all entails, and what may have been announced this week.

What is GFN Thursdays?

NVIDIA say in their press release: "Over the course of the past year, many of our most played games either launched or released major season updates on Thursdays — and we aim to support these launches as soon after their release as possible. Many of the top free-to-play games, from Fortnite to Apex Legends, Destiny 2 and more, also release major season updates for Thursdays."

Using a blog to announce updates is certainly an interesting method for NVIDIA; some have thought that using video may have been better, so it could showcase the service and the games in a different way.

However, they go further in the press release, stating, "With GFN Thursday updates every week, you’ll always know what’s ready to play across your devices, even if you’re away from your gaming rig."

  • Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 (Steam)
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth (Steam)

There's also other stuff to enjoy on the service, with NVIDIA expressing in the blog posta lot of love for indie titles like Valheim and Terraria.

NVIDIA releases GeForce NOW statistics

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of GeForce NOW's release, back in February, NVIDIA published a collection of statistics about its cloud gaming service.

Since its launch, players have streamed over 175 million hours of gameplay via GeForce NOW, across over 800 titles from more than 300 publishers.

Of these 175m hours, over 100m hours was spent playing multiplayer titles, and 16m spent playing indie games. Players also spent over four million hours playing Cyberpunk 2077 with RTX ray tracing enabled.
