Switch: How to play online on Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has offered an online service for some time now.

It's an online service where you can join others in multiplayer matches, or play some games from Nintendo's past library.

There's even a voice-chat feature, which isn't, oddly, integrated into the service.

With that, here's how to play online on the Nintendo Switch.

How to play online on Nintendo Switch

As the official support page for Nintendo states, there are three steps players must do in order to access the online services.

  • Head to the Nintendo Entertainment System on your console's Nintendo Switch Online software.
  • Press the Play Online option, and it will let you set a password for security purposes. Other players that want to join you in the game must know the password to get in as well.
  • Wait for the second player that wants to join you, but you can start playing it regardless, even if they're not around just yet.

When choosing a game for online, Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. Ultimate are our picks for this.

You can join in to other matches if you wish, but especially during these lockdown times, playing with friends is best.

With 'Pokémon Diamond and Pearl' remakes confirmed, there's even more reason to try out the online service once they are released.
