Gaming in 2022 has brought us some brilliant titles, from God of War to Modern Warfare 2. However, every year has some blunders, and it looks like Xbox exclusive CrossfireX is the worst game of the year.
Multiplayer shooters are a dime a dozen these days, so it’s going to take a lot to stand out from the rest. Competing with Warzone, Overwatch 2, and Apex Legends is hard enough, but being a bad multiplayer shooter in addition to steep competition is just sad.
Not helping is the fact that CrossfireX is an Xbox Series exclusive, so only owners of Microsoft’s console experienced its awfulness. Obviously, there are some bad games on the PlayStation and Nintendo side but the Xbox Series doesn’t have a lot of must-haves right now, making this hurt more.
Metacritic wrote a list of their worst-rated games of the year, with CrossfireX going all the way down to #2. It managed to beat out Postal 4: No Regrets by 8 points but that’s still an overall score of 38 out of 100 and that’s not a good thing at all.
Fans on the Xbox subreddit don’t have a lot of sympathy for the multiplayer shooter, with many of them giving their grievances over the title.
“According to me too, this game was such ass,” says Ooshbala.
“The aiming in crossfireX was so bad. I played many FPS games but the hitboxes in crossfireX where so random,” chimed in kinghalo34.
Considering the lack of fanfare over the shooter, we doubt that the game will have much life left when 2023 comes around. Then again, numbers don’t seem to be as bad as flops like Babylon’s Fall, which barely had any players by the time support stopped for it.
Morbidly curious gamers can purchase CrossfireX on Xbox Series systems.
