Hasbro recently claimed that Activision lost the Transformers: Cybertron games, preventing them from getting proper re-releases. In response to the accusation, Activision revealed that they didn’t lose the games at all and know exactly where they are.
Activision CCO Lulu Cheng Meservey took to Twitter, claiming stories of the company losing these games were wrong. Meservey said the company still has these games and they were never lost to begin with.
In a follow-up statement to Axios reporter Stephen Totilo, Hasbro apologized to Activision for the confusion. The apology also claimed that Activision were “great partners” and can’t wait to work with them again.
"To clarify, comments that suggest Transformers games have been lost were made in error. We apologize to Activision and regret any confusion,” Hasbro told Totilo. "They’ve been great partners and we look forward to future opportunities to work together."
Prior to the update, Hasbro claimed that Activision lost the Transformers games and didn’t know which hard drives they were on. Hasbro even stated that they hope Microsoft purchasing Activision would lead to them going through their archives and finding these games.
Now that Activision actually has these games, it will be interesting to see if a re-release is in their future. Both War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron are considered some of the best games in the franchise but have since been delisted. While Fall of Cybertron did briefly come back for a PS4 and Xbox One release, it was digital-only and eventually got delisted again.
Aside from those two games, Activision also published the excellent Transformers: Devastation. Developed by PlatinumGames, this was essentially Bayonetta with the Autobots, complete with Witch Time-style dodging. Unlike the Cybertron games, which aimed for a more realistic approach, this character-action game was based on the ‘80s cartoons.
Since then, Activision has given up on licensed games and is solely focused on Call of Duty. Diablo 4 has also been a major focus for the company, as they’re hiring someone who can make the game’s progression better.

Will Hasbro and Activision ever re-release these classic Transformers games? Only time will tell.
