Mad Max: Fury Road and Venom actor Tom Hardy is a curious actor. Known for engaging in random behaviour, the actor has recently gone viral for his surprise win at a Jiu-Jitsu tournament.
Tom Hardy wins Jiu-Jitsu tournament
In a beautiful viral post, it was revealed that Batman actor Tom Hardy is an expert at Jiu-Jitsu. Surprising fans everywhere, the actor competed in 2022’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championship in England.
Furthermore, Hardy won every match he competed in. A blue belt in the martial art (the second belt available), Tom Hardy surprised everyone by taking home the win. The actor was awarded with a gold medal and a certificate.
An image of the actor’s win was posted online, becoming instantly viral. One of many tweets has almost 75,000 likes at the time of writing.
In the image, Hardy’s arm is being raised by the referee after winning the tournament. Hilariously, Hardy’s face is unfazed by his win, seemingly disassociating after his tourney of fights. His stoic, disinterested face will likely become a reaction meme for years to come.
Hardy didn’t say a word
Speaking to The Daily Mail, the actor’s final opponent Andy Leatherland discussed fighting Hardy. He told the outlet that it was a huge surprise to fight him and that he has signed up under his legal name instead of his stage name.
“I was contemplating the Milton Keynes tournament as it was very local,” he said. “And then, one morning—he goes by the name Edward Hardy—I saw that he'd actually signed up.”
Leatherland explained that Tom Hardy was a very intense opponent. Additionally, the actor was completely silent during their fight,an unnerving fact to face.
“The intensity that he brought to his movie roles, he brought that. He didn't say a word, he didn't say anything." He continued. "I made a mistake and he capitalized on that. He absolutely nailed it, and he subbed me, and it was over relatively quickly."
It’s not known if the actor entered the tournament for fun or to prepare for a role. Nevertheless, it’s another fun look into the wild life of Tom Hardy.
