Breakdown

  • Praydog's UEVR mod can convert Hellblade 2 into a full VR experience, delivering an excellent virtual reality game
  • The game is playable in VR using third or first-person camera views, but third-person is better for combat
  • Unfortunately, you'll need a VERY beefy PC to play Hellblade 2 in VR

After a seven-year wait, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice 2 is finally here. The sequel to the 2017 psychological action-adventure game, Hellblade 2 continues the story of Senua as she battles invading Vikings in Iceland, becoming a more self-assured and confident warrior by the end of the first game.

Considering the thrilling and terrifying elements of the series, strapping on one of the best VR headsets and converting Hellblade 2 into one of the best PCVR games sounds like a scary but exciting experience. Unfortunately, even the greatest VR-ready PCs struggle to handle this Hellblade 2 VR mod.

While the first game had official VR support, the sequel didn't receive similar treatment. However, thanks to Praydog's UEVR mod that turns many flatscreen games into VR experiences, you can enjoy Hellblade 2 exclusively in VR, allowing you to feel fully immersed in Senua's world.

As you can see from the video published by Flat2VR (via RoadtoVR), you can view the beautiful game in first or third-person, truly appreciating the effort Ninja Theory put into the visuals and storytelling of Hellblade 2. Much like Gfinity's Hellblade 2 review, it's a breattaking experience in VR as well. Of course, fighting in Hellblade 2 is better in third-person, as we imagine first-person wouldn't be great, and could be vomit-inducing.

Unfortunately, you'll need an expensive setup to play this game in VR. As Flat2VR suggests in the description, you'll need a powerful setup. That means you'll likely need the best graphics card, the 4090, to run this game smoothly. Considering 4090s are usually close to the $2000 mark, we don't think Hellblade 2 in VR is worth the investment. However, if you already own a 4090, this will surely push the GPU to its limits.

If you're looking to slash your way through foes without spending thousands on a new setup, make sure to check out the best VR games like Blade and Sorcery for some excellent sword-fighting experiences in virtual reality.
