Good news for Sci-Fi lovers, it has been confirmed that Terminator: Survivors, an open-world survival game set in the Terminator universe, will be launched on Steam in early access this fall. The announcement was made by publisher Nacon during the Nacon Connect 2024 event.
Nacon Milan's first FPS release will be available on Steam early access from October 24th, followed by its release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S at a later date.
Navigating the aftermath of Judgment Day and Skynet’s cataclysm, Terminator: Survivors combines base management and first-person shooter mechanics for solo or co-op play. Terminator: Survivors is set in 2009 after the events of the first two films, implying a disregard for subsequent films.
The reveal date trailer did not feature actual gameplay, instead focusing on a brilliant CG cutscene that set the universe's atmosphere, showcasing human survivors scavenging for resources while the looming threat of the T-800s searched for them.
Terminator: Survivors will initially pit survivors against one another before slowly realizing there's a bigger threat that will push them to join forces, according to Nacon Milan CEO Marco Ponte.
In Terminator: Survivors players will face the dangers of the post-apocalyptic world, and trying to cope with the threats posed by other human beings. At first survivors in the game world will be unaware of the existence of Skynet and the Terminator, but later will join forces with other survivors and discover the truth about the ongoing conflict and begin to fight back
Players have the opportunity to meet iconic characters from the franchise, giving them a sense of connection to the rest of the universe.
As mentioned, the game will launch in early access in late October to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of the Terminator franchise. The first film was released on October 26, 1984, making it the perfect timeframe to launch such an ambitious title set in James Cameron's Sci-Fi universe.
