Tales of Symphonia is the last remaster of the series, for now

Tales of Symphonia Remastered is coming out early next year, giving gamers a chance to enjoy one of the best entries in the JRPG series. It seems that fans better enjoy this remaster while they can as it might be the last re-release from the Tales of series.

Bandai Namco has announced that this will be the last re-release, with the company focusing on other upcoming series. Naturally, fans want more games from the franchise to see re-releases, remasters or remakes, but that’s not happening anytime soon.

For now, it seems that fans that want more of these games should consider getting Tales of Symphonia Remastered when it comes out early next year. Simply put, fans that want to see more Tales of games will have to vote with their wallets and pick this remaster up.

In a blog post, Bandai Namco bluntly stated that Tales of Symphonia Remastered is the only re-release of this series the company is working on. While the company did entertain the idea of more re-releases, it seems that Bandai Namco has no more plans for older games in this series.

"We really appreciate the enthusiasm shared by Tales fans worldwide on wanting to experience our portfolio of games on modern platforms,” Bandai said. As of now, we are focusing wholly on the release of Tales of Symphonia Remastered, though we are always happy to hear what our community would love to see for future games.”

Naturally, fans on Reddit were upset about the news, with many wanting to see older games like Tales of Phantasia or Tales of Destiny get re-releases. Prior to the announcement of Symphonia, the only other remaster in this series was Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition back in 2019.

“If Live a Live, Trails from Zero, Tactics Ogre and the old ass Mana games can get ported, sometimes remade, then there’s no reason why Tales can’t,” says planetarial.

“GIVE ME THAT DESTINY REMAKE! STOP HOLDING OUT ON US!” said Teneb0r.

While the re-release of Tales of Symphonia is exciting, the remaster is a bit controversial. Despite the original Gamecube game being 60 FPS, this re-release will be based on the PS3 and Steam version that only runs at 30 FPS. Fans were hoping the remaster would change this but that was quickly disproven.
