Star Wars Jedi: Survivor lets you hack off Stormtrooper limbs

star wars jedi survivor brings back limb dismemberment

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is bringing back Stormtrooper dismemberment back to the franchise and we couldn’t be happier. While we’ve seen a couple of shocking limb cutting in Star Wars media, video games haven’t had that feature since The Force Unleashed 2.

Bombastic shared a gameplay clip of Jedi: Survivor, showing lead character Cal Kestis cut a Storm Trooper’s leg in two. It looks brutal and really fun, already making this look like a step up from the excellent Fallen Order. Hopefully, the rest of the adventure is just as fun.

Having Stormtrooper dismemberment back in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is incredible. Fans are also half-expecting dismemberment towards any alien foes Cal might be fighting. With a new Gen’Dai adversary already confirmed, we can also expect some tentacle-cutting in the game.

Admittedly, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order did have some limb cutting, though it wasn’t as impactful. Cal Kestis could cut out the limbs of certain creatures attacking him, though the Stormtroopers would have all their arms and legs intact. Jedi: Survivor basically ensures that no enemy will be safe from a lightsaber.

It is kind of funny to see fans cheer for lightsabers cutting through limbs when they should be mortified. The Star Wars prequels often preached about the Jedi not killing, even though they constantly murdered their enemies in those movies. Obi-Wan cut Darth Maul in half, Mace Windu decapitated Jango Fett, and this isn’t even mentioning The Clone Wars.

That being said, we want our video games to be fun, and seeing enemies with their arms cut off in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor looks really fun. If limb dismemberment is the reason why we couldn’t get this sequel on PS4 and Xbox One, then it’s a decision we absolutely respect.
