Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been crowned the best-selling video game in April 2023.

A massive sequel to 2019’s Fallen Order, Survivor has been praised as one of the best Star Wars stories in years with hugely expanded gameplay systems.

According to a report by sales tracker Circana, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sales crushed the competition with ease. In just two days, the new game outsold Dead Island 2, Minecraft Legends, PGA Tour and more across all of April.

EA has not shared any specific sales numbers for the new Star Wars game, but sales seem rather strong. Compared to Fallen Order, the new game is reportedly crushing its predecessor in terms of sales, allegedly selling 30% better.

Jedi: Survivor has unfortunately launched with myriad issues across console and PC. While PC players have been met with the worst performance woes, stuttering, graphics issues and bugs are present in all versions.

Nevertheless, Jedi: Survivor is still a brilliant video game for fans of the franchise. Cal Kestis’ second entry is truly the Empire Strikes Back of Star Wars games, and we’re incredibly excited to see what happens next.

Jedi: Survivor’s high sales were to be expected with the popularity of Lucasfilm’s franchise right now. While the game hasn’t sold as well as Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy, despite its controversies, no one expected it to outsell the first Potter game in a decade.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the second game of a proposed trilogy by Respawn Entertainment. While the game does have a satisfying ending of its own, the narrative does leave itself open for one hell of a finale whenever Respawn gets around to making it.

Survivor is also part of mega-publisher EA’s huge plans for single-player games. Known mostly for multiplayer games and scummy micro transactions, EA has started to turn a new leaf, releasing high-quality AAA single-player titles including Star Wars and Dead Space Remake.

The strong sales of EA’s new single player titles may result in more high-quality adventures from the game studio. In our mind, that can only be a good thing.
