Star Wars’ biggest freak will return in a new game

Star Wars’ biggest freak Turgle begging for his life

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor introduced fans to the series’ newest cool-to-love freak: Turgle. As it turns out, the game developer has huge plans for the creepy-but-cute frogman.

Upon the new game’s release, the hipless frog-person became a breakout Star Wars freak for fans all around the world. His silly face, awkward gait and high-pitched Cartoon Network voice are now a permanent, and popular, part of the galaxy far, far away.

Jedi: Survivor is not the last fans have seen of Turgle. Well, at least if Respawn has anything to say about it — which they absolutely do. In an interview with IGN, game director Stig Asmussen revealed that Turgle is prime for a comeback.

“When you work on a game, you never know what people are going to latch onto and Turgle... the team love Turgle," Asmussen told the outlet. “Once it goes live, once it’s out in the wild and seeing people’s reaction with that, it confirmed and validated a lot of the feelings that we had on the team.”

When asked if Turgle is returning in the third Star Wars Jedi game, Asmussen revealed that the character certainly has potential for a comeback. Since the character isn’t exactly plot important, he can turn up wherever and whenever.

The introduction of Turgle in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is part of the game’s huge effort to give players a vibrant and diverse cast of lovable characters. As Cal Kestis, you recruit characters and populate the planet of Koboh with all manner of characters, including little weirdos like Turgle.

This is just one of many great aspects of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Alongside its brilliant story that’s one of Star Wars’ best and brilliant combat, it truly feels like a galaxy filled with unique characters.

Despite launching with a host of technical issues, especially on PC, Survivor is one of the best Star Wars games around. For fans of Fallen Order, it’s everything that game did well and far, far more. For those who didn’t, we’d still suggest giving it a go.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is now available on Xbox Series X, PS5 and PC.
