It's been a tough time waiting for the Spider-Man 2 game release, hasn't it? In the wait, a modder has decided to introduce one of the cinematic universe's stars into the Sony exclusive game - Spider-Punk.

We played the original years ago, then we played the remastered version, then Spider-Man: Miles Morales came along to tease us with a few short hours of crime-fighting action. And now Spider-Punk is here to help us wait out these last few months.

22-year-old artist Galan has taken to Twitter to show off his work. "I'm trying to make a mod that adds Spider-Punk's outline effects from Across the Spider-Verse in the game," he says.

A gif attached to the tweet shows Spider-Punk swinging through the skyscrapers of New York City. The model and special effect outline are a realistic rendition of the Spider-Punk from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie.

Galan and co-creator Deadgunned have shown us what's possible in the Spider-Man games, but it's also brought some topics of conversation to the foreground. Why haven't we seen more characters from the series' long history appear in the game?

Whether it be in official DLC or through fan-made mods, it's clear that there's a wealth of unexplored Spider-Man content out there that we could see coming in Spider-Man 2.

We can't wait.
