Pokémon Scarlet and Violet gen 9 leaks: fire starter Fuecoco looking at an apple

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are coming to the Nintendo Switch next week, but fans don’t need to wait to check out its new critters. As has been the case with recent games in the series, a good number of the new Pokémon have been leaked before release.

The leak below includes some new Pokémon that did not appear in previous trailers and evolutions for the starters. It’s not yet known which of these creatures will be exclusive to Scarlet or Violet, with the leak even saying some of them aren’t even in their final form yet.

Naturally, spoiler warnings for those that plan on getting Pokémon Scarlet and Violet next week. Switch owners that plan on getting one or both titles should probably avoid this for now, though it's not like there are story spoilers in here.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet spoilers beyond this point.

From what can be seen below (via CentroLeaks), it’s clear that Gen 9 of Pokémon is jam-packed with interesting designs. The biggest talking point is the evolutions of Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito, as fans tend to obsess over them. Now’s your chance to decide if you should evolve them or not.

While there are no direct story spoilers, the leak does seemingly confirm what the Scarlet and Violet books do. Based on these leaked images, it looks like fans can expect some unique versions of Pokémon they know, like Jigglypuff and Magneton.

As mentioned previously, this isn’t the first time Pokémon were leaked before the games came out. Ever since the 3DS era, games like Sun and Moon, Sword and Shield, and even Pokémon Legends: Arceus had all of their critters leaked in advance.
