No Way Home actor reveals how Sony reacted to Maguire and Garfield leaks

Spider-Man: No Way Home might be one of the most leaked movies of all time. Months before its release, details slipped that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were returning for the movie. Even Charlie Cox's appearance was leaked!

As images and videos started to leak out, many thought that Sony was panicking. For example, the company was quick to DMCA leaks that some thought were fake, essentially confirming their legitimacy. However, it appears the opposite istrue.

Andrew Garfield reveals how Sony reacted to No Way Home leaks

In an interview with The Wrap, The Amazing Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield was asked about the company's reaction to the leaks. While Garfield himself was upset at the leaks, Sony was adamant to not confirm anything.

Garfield said:

“I worked so hard to keep it secret that I was in Atlanta shooting… all these leaks were happening, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, guys, what the hell is going on? I'm working so hard here to stay secret, and then here's an image of me with Tobey!' And they're like, ‘No, no, we're gonna keep it quiet.' ‘OK, I'll keep denying it.'”

Of course, this led to Andrew Garfield’s hilarious run of denying his involvement in the movie. From saying he didn't “get a call” to claiming images were photoshopped, Garfield spent months stating he wasn't in the movie.

“I was happy to do it, but it was a lot of work on everyone's part,” the actor said. “It obviously gave people a big thrill in the theater, and what more do you want from a theater experience than a thrill?… It's been a rare experience to play that mass game of Werewolf with every single Spider-Man fan in the world. That's been incredibly fun.”
