It looks like we won’t be getting any Hogwarts Legacy DLC anytime soon. Despite the Harry Potter RPG dominating sales since release, Warner Bros and Avalanche will not be releasing any additional content for the game.
Speaking with IGN, game director Alan Tew confirmed that there are currently no plans to add DLC to the Harry Potter title. According to Tew, the team at Avalanche Studios put all of their focus on the base game, with no plans to make additional content.
“We’ve been really heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life,” said Tew, “so at the moment there are no current plans for DLC.”
To be fair, there’s so much to do in the game that Hogwarts DLC isn’t really needed, at least not yet. Granted, it’s not The Witcher 3 when it comes to content, but there’s a decent amount of activities to partake in. Not to mention the fact that there are over 100 side missions that players can tackle whenever they please.
Not having DLC planned for a major game release is pretty shocking but not necessarily bad. Knowing that a game can stand on its own two feet at launch shows confidence from the devs. Aside from God of War: Ragnarok, we can’t think of other titles that didn’t immediately have season passes announced before or after the game’s release.
That doesn’t we won’t eventually get DLC. After all, this is the Harry Potter franchise, so fans would pay good money to stay in this world a bit longer. We know that some fans really want Quidditch to be added to the game and that could always happen.
For now, if you’re interested in the franchise and don’t mind funding a controversial figure like J.K. Rowling, Hogwarts Legacy is readily available on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. There are also plans to release the game on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
