The Nintendo Switch 2 has quickly become a hot topic amongst gamers, with various reports coming in about how powerful this new system might be. Another leak has since made its way to the worldwide web, claiming that this new hybrid console won’t require a dock.

Leaks from a Korean insider (via Reddit) claim the Switch successor is going by the pseudonym “Super Nintendo Play,” with a colour palette weirdly similar to the Japanese Super Famicom. The biggest takeaway from the leak is that the successor while still being very much a handheld/console hybrid, won't feature a dock.

No details were given as to how it can function as a home console without a dock, so we’ll have to wait and see. Obviously, fans should take the leak with a grain of salt, as with all gaming leaks, but this definitely raises interest in the Switch successor.

Various reports of the Switch 2 have made their way online, claiming that it will be a ridiculously powerful system. Games like Final Fantasy VII Remake will supposedly be launch titles for the hybrid system. A remaster of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has also been rumoured, claiming that it will run at 4K and 60fps.

Despite not confirming the news, Nintendo has hinted at the successor to the Switch a good number of times. Most recently, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser said that existing NSO accounts will be the key to transitioning into the next system.

Rumours of the Switch 2 aside, Nintendo has been adamant about supporting the current Switch hardware, at least until March 2025. To be fair, we can’t blame the company since the Switch has sold millions of units since it was first made available in 2017. Even with rumours of a new system, the original hardware is still getting plenty of exclusives like this month’s Super Mario RPG.
