When it was announced that Persona 3 Reload would have new voices for its cast, fans were slightly disappointed. Thankfully, it looks like Atlus won’t be completely abandoning the old voice actors, as the latest trailer teases new roles for them.

At the beginning of a new trailer, we hear the voice of Yukari Takeba’s father talking about his grave mistakes. If the voice sounds familiar, that’s because it’s none other than Yuri Lowenthal, who previously voiced the main character in the original release of Persona 3

Zeno Robinson, who now voices Junpei in Persona 3 Reload, confirmed that it was Yuri’s voice we heard in those brief seconds. Although it’s not guaranteed, it would be great if Liam O’Brien, Michelle Ruff, and Laura Bailey return for cameos as well.

To play devil’s advocate, Yuri Lowenthal returning might not mean the other cast members are. Lowenthal is a pretty well-known voice actor and is in numerous video games. Most fans know him as the current voice of Peter Parker in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as well as Midnight Suns

While hearing Yuri in the game will be fun, most fans have warmed up to the new voices. Aleks Le as the protagonist has many excited since he’s also Luke in Street Fighter 6. There’s also the aforementioned Zeno Robinson as Junpei and Allegra Clark as Mitsuru.

Despite Persona 3 Reload looking like a solid remake, there are a few things holding it back from being definitive. Atlus won’t be including the female protagonist for some reason, angering plenty of fans who enjoyed that route’s alternate story beats. Others are also disappointed that we won’t get the post-game FES content, which is stuck on PlayStation 2.

It was also odd that Atlus decided to release Persona 3 Portable earlier this year with P3R coming. Maybe they wanted to let players use the female protagonist in an older game before making her unavailable in the newer one. Either way, it helps video game preservation, at the very least.
