Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has received its latest patch and this one has proven to be controversial in the funniest way possible. The patch has made armor-piercing weapons do less damage to players wearing armor. Yup, armor-piercing ammo no longer pierces armor.

Naturally, the CoD community is having a field day with this revelation, due to how humorous it is. Granted, this was likely done due to the weapon killing too many players but there must have been a better way to balance this.

How long will the Moder Warfare 2 armor-piercing ammo not pierce armor? And does this make these weapons useless in the grand scheme of things?

Fans on Reddit are having a field day with this update, with many saying that the armor-piercing ammo is now just “ammo.” While hilarious, there are players that appreciate this balance patch, noting how some bots are too good with their aiming in the game.

“It should definitely help against the bots. They've put too many bots, that have better aim than some of the players,” says suffffuhrer. “There are already enough in every area, there shouldn't be new ones being flown in by heli every two minutes.”

Though not too useful against players, the armor-piercing ammo can still take down vehicles in Modern Warfare 2. Plus, they can still kill players wearing ammo, it just does less damage than it did before, which does make the naming scheme pointless.

However, some are also rightfully criticizing the move since it makes taking down armored enemies harder. It’s clear that the folks at Activision will have to release another patch for good measure, but knowing this game, more updates are coming soon.

“So it’s now misleading by its name, and with how many armoured enemies that DMZ throws at you, you’re gonna run out of ammo even faster,” said Lazypole.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
