Mad Catz reveals FREQ2 and FREQ4 gaming headsets: features, specs, price, release date and all the info you need

Mad Catz is one of the longest-standing manufacturers of peripherals and the company has recently announced a new range of headsets, “engineered to provide professional grade sound quality and unparalleled comfort”.

The F.R.E.Q.2 and F.R.E.Q.4 headsets are designed to give gamers, “an immersive audio experience like no other,” and their release “marks to the first step in a plan to integrate the signature Mad Catz design across a broad range of best-in-class gaming audio solutions”.

As well as manufacturing gaming products for decades, Mad Catz has contributed to the world of gaming, esports and technology by sponsoring teams and tournaments around the globe.

According to Mad Catz, “the F.R.E.Q.2 is designed for comfort and tuned for gaming.” It's available now on Newegg for $43.47 (just over £35 GBP).

Regardless of whether you’re a competitive gamer breaking into the esports scene or a casual player, “the F.R.E.Q.2 has been engineered with gamer in mind.”

The F.R.E.Q.2 is tuned with 40mm Neodymium drivers and connected through a 3.5mm cable. Coming equipped with the 3.5mm connection means that, “the F.R.E.Q.2 is compatible with a range of formats including PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One as well as mobile and smart devices.”

The F.R.E.Q.4 is available now on Newegg for $67.51 (which is £54 GBP). A step up from the previous headset, this a more high-end piece of kit.

The F.R.E.Q.4 comes equipped with virtual 7.1 surround sound and an even better audio soundscape thanks to “the premium, super-sized 50mm Neodymium drivers providing incredible fidelity.”

“Perfect for competitive gaming, the F.R.E.Q.4 features an environment noise-cancelling mic for crystal-clear audio without any background noise, ensuring focused communication between the player and their teammates.”

Alongside the aforementioned features, the F.R.E.Q.4 offers owners free software, which “allows gamers to configure audio levels such as mic volume, surround-sound, and audio sampling rate as well as program the Chameleon RGB lighting”.
