The official Angry Birds TikTok got really rowdy last weekend with a video of its mascot Red playing “Smash or Pass” with a variety of fictional characters. On paper, this wouldn’t be a bad thing, but considering this franchise is marketed towards children we’re not entirely sure why this video was made.

Fans can see the full video here, with Red saying he would “Smash” characters like Zelda or Noctis from Final Fantasy 15. While many may not agree with the character’s picks, most people agree that the video was a weird move for the family-friendly franchise.

With SEGA purchasing Rovio and the Angry Birds franchise, it makes the move even weirder than usual. Sure, SEGA publishes games like Yakuza and Persona, which have sexual themes, but they know when to differentiate their marketing. Despite the audience growing older with Sonic, they never had the character play “Smash or Pass” on TikTok. At least, not yet.

It’s a weird time to be a fan of Angry Birds, weird TikTok post aside. Rovio felt that their newer games in the series hasn’t been making enough money, so they decided to de-list the original game. Yes, the game that launched this franchise has now been de-listed from mobile stores, officially making it lost media.

Admittedly, the games did also come to various consoles. Fans can actually purchase the first game via the 3DS collection, though fans can only get the physical version now that the eShop is dead.

Beyond games, there were also a couple of movies that were produced, though they didn’t set the world on fire. Most fans feel they were inoffensive family films that didn’t do anything to get angry or outstanded by. There are viewers who claim that the second movie is a bit better but Hollywood has offered greater all-ages animated films to check out in recent years.
