The recent Hitman trilogy, now part of the World of Assassination collection, showcases top-notch stealth sandbox gameplay. When Hitman 3 introduced VR to the Agent 47 experience, it was no surprise that it succeeded. Now, it's expanding with a full-on VR game for Hitman fans to enjoy—but only some.

If you have one of the best VR headsets available, like the Meta Quest 3, or if you’re considering the long-rumored and budget-friendly Meta Quest 3s, you’ll be pleased with this latest Hitman game. However, those with a Quest 2, PSVR 2, or other headsets will miss out.

Despite Hitman 3 VR being one of the best PCVR games, the upcoming Hitman 3 VR Reloaded is exclusive to the Quest 3. While it may come to rank among the best Quest 3 games, alongside the exclusive Batman Arkham Shadow game coming later this year, both titles have a common issue—they alienate long-time fans.

XR Games (Zombieland Headshot Fever Reloaded, Zombie Army VR) is developing Hitman 3 VR Reloaded in partnership with IO Interactive, the developer and publisher of the World of Assassination trilogy. Details are scarce, but the title suggests it follows the same story as the standard Hitman 3, fully realized in VR. If it does follow the same story, at least fans won't feel too left out.

Features include dual-wielding, allowing you to use weapons and items simultaneously, and a cel-shaded art style that offers a unique Hitman experience. Hitman 3 VR Reloaded also boasts a range of improvements, such as a rebuilt UI for VR, enhanced movement options, and refined gameplay, according to the Quest Store listing. Hopefully, it also includes the roguelike Freelancer mode from Hitman 3 too.

Meta Quest 3 owners can pre-order Hitman 3 VR Reloaded on the Quest Store now, with the game releasing in Summer 2024. The game costs $29.99 / £24.99, with a 10% discount currently available for pre-orders. Unfortunately, those stuck playing flatscreen games or with a PC-only headset will have to miss out on the latest Hitman title.
