Video game developers from Nazca, who worked on the original Metal Slug and other Neo Geo games, have shown off their latest game. And it looks remarkably like Metal Slug.

The Kohachi Studio Twitter account tweeted out a video clip teaser that's just shy of a minute long showing Black Finger Jet. It's a side-scrolling pixel-art shooter in the vein of Metal Slug.

Black Finger Jet is clearly a spirital successor to the beloved franchise that first appeared in arcades and on Neo Geo machines in the 1990s. Developing the game is two names that will be familiar to fans of the series: Akio (who is responsible for artwork) and Meeher, who is overseeing production.

Before you get too excited, though, we currently don't have a release date for Black Finger Jet. And the studio is likely still in the early stages of the game's development.

Black Finger Jet has a Steam page where you can wishlist the shooter, but there's currently no option to pre-order. There is, however, a notice saying that the game's release date is currently "to be announced".

Will we see more over the summer with Summer Game Fest right around the corner? We hope so, because Metal Slug is a fantastic series that younger gamers might not have had the opportunity to play yet.

Keep those eyes peeled for more information coming soon.
