A rumoured Final Fantasy Ivalice project has surfaced and it will supposedly include remasters for games like Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics. In recent years, Square Enix has created some fantastic re-releases and these could be another stellar example if done right.
Rumours from 4Chan, via Reddit, claim that a number of these games will be re-released under the Stories of Ivalice banner. Games that will supposedly be a part of this re-release include Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, Vagrant Story, FF Tactics Advance, and FF Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift.
The rumour also claims that FF Tactics Advance and FF Tactics A2 will have more content than their original releases. It’s not yet known if Vagrant Story will have any additions to fleshen that game out. Furthermore, Final Fantasy Tactics will be based on its War of the Lions PSP re-release, so fans can expect animated cutscenes and a better translation.
One major Ivalice game not part of the project is Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age since that game is readily available on all major platforms. This remaster added all of the exclusive content from the Japanese-only version of the game, alongside some QOL improvements. Square Enix even updated the PS4 version to add content that used to be exclusive to the Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions, like switching jobs.
Lastly, a major Ivalice project under Yasumi Matsuno is said to be in production. Matsuno worked on a good number of these Ivalice games, including the original Final Fantasy Tactics, so this might be worth keeping an eye on. No word yet on what this new game could be but it should be big news when it comes out.
Fans that want a taste of Ivalice can pick up Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
