Breakdown

  • Fallout 4 is getting Steam Deck Verified later this month
  • The update might also remove any mods currently in the game
  • Bethesda is also bringing this classic RPG to Epic

Bethesda’s Fallout 4 will be getting current-gen upgrades soon but that doesn’t mean PC owners are going to get left behind. In addition to getting some major upgrades on gaming computers, the acclaimed first-person RPG will soon be Steam Deck Verified.

The official Bethesda website has confirmed that this RPG is going to get Steam Deck Verified after this update, meaning instantaneous handheld play. While the game does currently have a “Playable” status, Steam users still have to make modifications to make it play well on Deck.

If this update is anything to go by, players won’t have to make adjustments to Fallout 4 anymore. While most gamers don’t care about the Steam Deck Verified rating, it still helps out anyone hoping for some out-of-the-box gaming. For those unaware, “out-of-the-box” means that players can start playing this game without having to worry about anything.

While this update is nice, it does come with a few caveats that will annoy hardcore fans of Bethesda RPGs. These updates might remove any mods that players have equipped, so anyone with fun customizations won’t have them anymore. Modders might be able to put them back but that might take up a lot of work, especially for those with extensive mods that change the game.

Even without mods, we think playing Fallout 4 on the Steam Deck will be a fun experience, as gamers will be able to bring the apocalypse with them wherever they go. Technically, players can do that now, but the Deck Verification should mean a smoother experience that will be a lot easier to play.

Other improvements coming to the PC version of Fallout 4 include widescreen support, ultra widescreen support, and other bug fixes. Bethesda is also bringing the acclaimed RPG to the Epic Games Store for the first time, so everyone can get in on post-apocalyptic survival.

All of these updates and more will be coming to Fallout 4 on April 25. Fans can also check out the new Fallout show on Amazon, which is getting rave reviews.
