Let’s be honest, the nearest most of us have got to the great outdoors lately is watching celebs lugging tree trunks uphill in SAS: Who Dares Wins. Still, if you’re looking for a rugged bit of kit to accompany you on your future adventures, the latest Durabook tablet could be just the ticket.

Yep, Durabook has announced an updated version of its tough-as-nails, pro-grade U11 tablet. And while the sturdy casing hasn’t really changed – perhaps a literal case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” – the interior build now incorporates the new, 10th Generation Intel Core processors.

The manufacturers claim that the upgraded processing power improves performance by “almost 260%”, so if you’re looking for a table that you can take out and about – and one that can handle more than a few knocks – this could be a very serious contender.

Here’s everything you need to know about the newly upgraded Durabook U11 tablet.

Durabook U11 tablet specs

The main upgrade to the 2020 Durabook U11 tablet is the inclusion of new 10th Generation Intel Core processors, delivering higher speed and performance power when you’re out in the field – there are i5 and i7 options available depending on your performance needs and budget.

The tablet offers an 11.6-inch FHD LCD screen with “next-generation DynaVue technology”, which promises crystal-clear viewing even in direct sunlight.

The really clever thing about the screen, though, is the multi-touch function – there are four touch modes (glove, stylus, water, finger) for optimised use in both indoor and outdoor settings, come rain or shine.

The tablet comes equipped with an Intel UHD graphics card, with memory of up to 16GB and storage options ranging from 128GB to 1TB. There’s a 2MP webcam up front and an optional 8MP auto-focus camera with flash on the back.

Durabook U11 tablet features

The name says it all, really – everything about the Durabook U11 has been designed for use in all environments and situations, no matter how extreme.

The tablet is resilient to accidental drops thanks to all-round rubber frame protectors. It’s also certified to withstand shock, vibration and even 6-foot drops, as well as a wide range of external temperatures. The fanless design, meanwhile, means no noise – which Durabook claims is perfect for “stealth scenarios”.

There are a ton of other cool functions, too. The high-capacity battery offers 24 hours of operation, and can be “hot-swapped” for uninterrupted use when you’re not near a power supply. The “military-grade” quick SSD release function allows for easy hard drive removal. And there are loads of expansion options, including a smart card reader, night vision mode and fingerprint scanner.
