The original Star Wars Battlefront games are some of the best in the long-running sci-fi franchise, delivering galactic-scale warfare over iconic maps. And while the EA remakes of the duology are controversial, it seems like Aspyr's remaster is just as worthy of criticism.

When it launched, the Battlefront games changed everything, delivering an exceptional experience that was beloved by the masses. You didn't need to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy the games, but they were clearly created by a passionate team who loved the galaxy far, far away. However, Aspyr's recent launch of the Battlefront Classic Collection on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC hasn't had the greatest start.

On the Steam storefront page, the game is already sitting at over 1000 reviews, at a Mostly Negative rating. At launch, Aspyr only has a measly three servers for the game, severely limiting the amount of players who can play a multiplayer-focused title. Other reviews report that the servers offer horrible stuttering, terrible ping, and other issues when you're finally able to connect to the servers. That means roughly only 200 people can play the game on PC right now with other players.

In fact, the game's Steam rating is currently reaching Overwatch 2 levels of bad, after the game was review bombed when it launched on Valve's storefront last year. That's an impressively bad position to be put in, especially with such a passionate fanbase wanting to play the Battlefront games in a more accessible manner, at least on consoles.

Aspyr's official feeds have yet to confirm any updates to put the game into a better shape, but the replies to the developer's last tweet three days ago is already filled with backlash from fans. It's safe to say that you may want to wait before buying this game, which is truly a shame. We were excited to play the Classic Collection in all of its glory, some of us for the first time ever, but it looks like we'll have to wait until Aspyr releases some updates.
