Donald Glover would love to return as young Lando, if Disney lets him

Iconic Community actor and beloved musician Donald Glover is rearing to return to the Star Wars universe as Lando Calrissian.

Making his debut in the Star Wars prequel spin-off Solo back in 2018, Glover’s take on Billy Dee Williams’ smooth-talking smuggler was universally well-receipted. Unfortunately, he has yet to return.

In an interview with GQ, Glover revealed that he is more than ready to come back to the galaxy far, far away. However, his return to the role all depends on whether Disney will let him return.

The Atlanta actor explained that he’s already in talks with Disney and Lucasfilm to star in a new project as Lando. Glover wasn’t able to go into too many details or else he would suffer the Wrath of The Mouse.

“I would love to play Lando again,” Donald Glover said. “We’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say without Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down.”

Glover told fans that his return to the character would have to be “right” for not just Lucasfilm, but also himself. The actor explained that he’s not interested in poor-quality projects that would just waste time.

“It’s a fun time, to be him. It just has to be… it needs to be the right way to do it,” the actor explained. “Time is precious, you only get so much, so I’m not interested in doing anything that’s gonna be a waste of my time, or just a paycheck. I’d much rather spend time with people I enjoy. So it just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I like to hang out with.”

Donald Glover as Lando has only appeared on film in Solo: A Star Wars Story. The actor’s appearance was also used for a version of the character in EA’s Star Wars Battlefront 2, joining Alden Ehrenreich’s version of Han Solo.

Fans have clamoured for a Young Lando series on Disney Plus ever since the service was announced. Following the success of prequels such as Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi, it could be a good idea.
